Could any violin player out here share tips on how to vibrato effectively? I'm still struggling to get it right.

Sure! Vibrato is all about wrist and arm movement. You need to be relaxed with your violin holding position first. Then start with slow and exaggerated motions, progressively increasing your pace as you get the hang of it.

Including to what Username2 said, I found this helpful step-by-step method:

1. rest the violin correctly on your shoulder.
2. place your thumb in position, acting as a pivot point.
3. position your wanted finger on the string.
4. rotate your arm or wrist back and forth in a rocking motion.
5. repeat step 4 but with diverse speed to get the desired vibrato issue.

Don't rush the process! It's better to get the movement correct at a slower pace than to rush and develop bad habits.
