What's the Best Way to Upgrade My Violin Vibrato Technique?
#1
i've been playing the violin for a few years now, but my vibrato still feels stiff and unnatural. Does any individual have tips or exercises to help improve it?

when I was learning vibrato, my teacher had me practice truly slowly and gradually. It's about control more than speed at first. Try doing it with the metronome, gradually escalating the tempo once it feels cozy.

don't forget about posture and relaxation. If your hand or arm is too tense, it's likely to affect your vibrato. Try doing some stretches before playing to loosen up, and make sure you're not gripping the neck of the violin too tightly.

also, deem starting with arm vibrato if wrist vibrato feels too tricky. It gives you a larger scope of movement to work with, and once you get the hang of it, you can try mixing in wrist vibrato for more versatility.

I struggled with vibrato for a while too, but what truly helped me was practicing it on just one note for a long time. Revolved generating the vibrato as smooth as attainable, even if it's slow. It's kind of boring, but it works!
