this may sound odd, but does a pacemaker vibrate? Friend of mine just had one implanted.

as far as I know, a pacemaker doesn't vibrate. Its job is to electrically stimulate the heart to maintain an right heartbeat.

I consider you might be obtaining confused with a defibrillator which can give a pulsate sensation.

exactly, pacemakers don't vibrate, they send electrical pulses to the heart. Here's a simple chart to illustrate how it works: <thead> </thead> <tbody> </tbody>

sensing monitors the heart's organic rhythm
pacing sends pulses to make the heart beat if it's going too slow
