How Do You Properly Isolate Vibration in a Workshop?
#1
hey all, I've got a small workshop in my garage and recently installed a new device that causes a lot of vibration. It's affecting the other equipment and generating every thing shake. Does anyone know a good way to isolate the vibration?

hey, I had the same issue in my workshop! One thing you can try is placing anti-vibration pads below the feet of the machine. They help absorb some of the vibrations before they transfer to the floor and other surfaces.

yeah, anti-vibration pads are really good. You can also look into isolation mounts, which do the same thing but can be more powerful if the equipment is particularly heavy or powerful. They're a bit pricier but value it if the vibrations are bad.

another option is to build a individual platform for the equipment, kind of like a floating floor. You can use shock-absorbing materials amongst the platform and the ground to isolate the vibrations. It's a bit of work but works truly well for thick machines.

if you're on a cost, you can also try employing simple rubber mats or even repurposing old tires cut into sections to reduce vibration. It's not as powerful as proper isolation mounts, but it can help reduce the effect.

thanks for the tips! I think I'll start off with the anti-vibration pads and see if that helps. If it's nevertheless an situation, I'll look into building a platform or getting isolation mounts.
